About PeekGold

PeekGold is a free website that shows today's gold rate per gram in India for 24K, 22K and 18K gold, a likely range for tomorrow, and a calculator that adds making charges and GST. It is run by the PeekGold team from Surat, Gujarat. There is no sign up and no fee.

How we calculate the rate

The rate on PeekGold is calculated by us. It is not an official rate and it is not copied from any jeweller, bank or association. Each morning, soon after 10:00 AM India time, we take:

  • the world gold price in US dollars per troy ounce,
  • the US dollar to rupee exchange rate,
  • India's import duty on gold.

24K per gram is the world price times the dollar rate, divided by 31.1035 grams per ounce, plus import duty. 22K is 91.67% of 24K and 18K is 75%. City rates add the usual small local difference for each city. GST and making charges are not in the rate; the calculator adds them for you.

Gold prices come from gold-api.com and the dollar rate from ExchangeRate-API. Your jeweller's board may differ by a few rupees, and shops add their own charges, so please confirm the price before you pay.

How tomorrow's range works

Nobody can name tomorrow's rate to the rupee, so we show a range and never call the price up or down. We tested the method on 645 past trading days (October 2024 to October 2026) before launch: the range held 90 days in 100. Every range is saved before the real rate comes out, and the results, misses included, stay on the track record.

How we are paid

PeekGold is free. We plan to show a few clearly marked ads to cover costs. Advertisers do not decide the rates or what we write, and we never allow adult or sexual content in ads.
